Abstract

In this work I studied and evaluated different approaches to energy efficiency of a heritage listed building in Skellefteå that I have chosen to work with. My work has been produced by different calculation methods for energy efficiency. These proposals are submitted to the landlord for consideration. Energy savings will ultimately lead to increased profitability for the property. Baseline calculations and graphs showed that windows, natural ventilation, and a poorly insulated roof were the biggest energy culprits. A complete renovation was not timely because the private owner of the property does not have the financial resources to do so. However, additional insulation in the ceiling beams and introduction of energy-efficient glass can lower the costs significantly, in relation to the investment cost. A payback of about 15 years has been estimated that in context seems reasonable. Energy consumption has been estimated to fall from 278 to 223 MWh per year. Transmission losses decreased from 1069 to 766 W / K, in other words 28% after the proposals. Windows and doors have been improved by energy glass and new seals by 54%. After the carrying out energy-efficiency measures for this house, the calculation have shown that they will reduce energy consumption by 21%, which is considered good given the relatively low investment in terms of time and money.
