The author briefly addresses the possibility of operating HVAC systems on low capacity or not at all during unoccupied hours for areas in the museum that contain artifacts resistant to RH and temperature fluctuations. An interesting idea that could work depending on the buffering capacity of the building and collections. Significant monetary savings could be realized, but the safety of the artifacts must come first.
