Abstract

SINTEF has carried out a project for the Cultural Heritage Board and Enova to document the effects of energy-efficient conservation on windows. The project had the following contents: - Measurements of U-value - Calculations of the U-value with accurate and simplified method - Measurements of air tightness and drying ability - Measurement and evaluation of sound insulation - Calculation of heat balance The measurements show that one can achieve U-values between 1.5 and 1.6 W/m² K for an older window with inner frame with single glass with hard coating. With a two-layer insulating the new frame can achieve U-value below 1.0 W / m² K.
