Today there is a need for energy-‐efficiency measures in historic buildings. To ensure that such measures will provide the planned result without damage to the building or poor indoor climate, a skilled holistic approach is required. To be able to propose accurate measures requires a thorough understanding of the individual cultural heritage, the existing building’s function and how the measures will affect the building. This requires a multidisciplinary knowledge, for example building antiquarian, building biological and building physical expertise. This paper presents a method for determining the status of the existing building and a method for risk assessment of energy saving measures. The goal is to develop safe concepts for energy saving measures in different types of buildings.
