Abstract

Increased air pollution in cities contributes to the evermore corresive attack on the porous, carbonate rich stone which has always been used as a building material. Other factors have also contributed to damages, faulty constructions, faulty knowledge of stone´s internal structure and caracteristics of the altered conditions of heating and air humidity indoors resulting from modern improvements. It is today a lack of any sort of training for masonry restoration.
