Museums for antiquities are ideal for the application of state-of-the-art environmental design like daylighting and natural ventilation integrated with advanced electromechanical (M/E) systems. By utilising natural resources, improving the environmental conditions in a museum and enhancing the architectural design, the display quality and the conditions for staff and visitors as well as for the exhibits can be improved. The resulting greater influx of visitors and the feasibility of the retrofitting measures are likely to effect a better economic situation for these museums while contributing to the protection of the environment.
