Abstract

Predictions of future indoor climate and damage are presented for Knole, a historic house with collections on open display. The process of applying damage functions is discussed, particularly with reference to their application with future climate data, where it is not practical to read off the damage associated with the corresponding temperature and relative humidity from a graph. Results suggest summer months will be warmer but less humid in the future, and winter months warmer and slightly more humid. Damage to paper is predicted to increase, as it the risk of mould growth and insect pest activity. Damaging dimensional change events of wood are predicted to decrease.
