Today's society is increasingly demanding that every building should become even more energy efficiency. One of Sweden’s domestic aims is at 2050 decrease the energy use of the building stock with 50 % compared with the energy use of 1995. This thesis is written to the EKG-projects where the thesis is a guideline for property-owners that is involved in the whole project, EKG-projects. The main reason of the thesis is if the property owner decides to replace its windows to more energy efficient windows. The thesis also highlights other important areas and concepts in modern window constructions and also research and a marketing evaluation for windows and its expenditure. The thesis also includes thoughts and remembrance when a person has decided for window replacement and also about the architectural point of view and energy simulation of a room when a window is being replaced. By the method used in the thesis the results for the energy simulation was much lower energy losses when a window replacement with low energy window took place. As well the thermal comfort improved. This has in turn let that the “stay-area” has increased and the thermal climate indices, Predicted Mean Vote (PMV) has improved slightly.
